Navy Sports Medicine Fellowship
During a twenty year period I held a faculty position training active duty US Navy sports medicine fellows. Two doctors per year spent time in my office learning about Orthopaedic sports medicine. These doctors needed to have completed an internship, Family Practice residency, and most had spent years treating active duty USN personnel. The sports medicine fellowship is a one year optional competitive slot meant to further train the doctors how to evaluate and treat the myriad of athletic injuries our troops endure as a result of their service. Following completion of the fellowship the doctors would be assigned to various duty stations across the globe to continue their new subspecialty practice of sports medicine. It was my distinct honor and pleasure to have served in this capacity for the United States Navy.
